I miss my old Canton Repository.
I am not referring to Eric, my Repository deliveryman. He does a wonderful job; I appreciate him. I enjoy editorials/opinions of Charita Goshay and other Repository writers.
I am referring to the fact that my Repository has changed, and the change is not good.
I remember when I would get baseball scores, football scores (high school, college and pros) the next day of the games. I remember when I would get election results the next day after primary or general elections. I remember when I would be able read the weekly listings of property sales and transactions when they had spacing or indentions. I remember when I would not be asked to read the same news stories for two straight days. I remember when reports of school board, township trustee and city council meetings were printed. I remember when I would not see the same sentences repeated in the same story several times. I remember when most news items had a touch of Canton/Stark County News on its pages. I remember when we would not see as many glaring grammatical and proofreading mistakes. Why has the quality of my Repository been downgraded?
Has the Repository done away with proofreaders? Does the Repository editor/publisher not read their newspaper to become aware of these journalistic negatives? I would suggest that the Repository take a self-inventory of their product and consider much needed adjustments.
One thing that has not changed is the “billing” of the newspaper. We subscribers continue to subscribe to our Repository. But hey, even that might change if the “powers that be” do not make some needed adjustments.
Again, I miss my old Canton Repository. Please give it back to me.
